Facilitated by Hiller
Room: Wachovia

What will you contribute as a new literacies teacher leader?

1. Free write for 2 minutes: Connect what you learned this week at the Institute with your
vision of yourself as a teacher leader of new literacies.
2. Take a gallery walk and select 1-2 images that reflect your role as a new literacies teacher leader. Think metaphorically about what you will contribute as a teacher leader as you select your images. What obstacles do you anticipate as you take action? What leadership qualities will you exhibit in order to be successful? (10 minutes)
3. Return to your design studio groups and articulate what you will contribute as a new literacies teacher leader. Take turns sharing. (10 minutes)
4. Generate a 3-2-1 action plan that consists of a) Three goals you want to achieve by the end
of the year; b) Who are two people you will collaborate with to achieve those goals?; and
c) What is the first realistic step you will take to address this plan? (15 minutes)
5. Post your 3-2-1 plan at here.
